It’s one of the first digital DJ apps, launching back in 2000.
REKORDBOX DJ VS TRAKTOR PRO
Traktor is Native Instruments’ laptop DJ software, and Traktor Pro 3 is the current version.
I’m new to digital – what exactly are these apps?
REKORDBOX DJ VS TRAKTOR SOFTWARE
Just don't lose sight of having fun. There have been substantial updates to Native Instruments’ Traktor Pro 3 DJ software in the past few months, and as Pioneer DJ’s Rekordbox DJ software continues to mature and grow in popularity, now seems like the perfect time to put these two DJ platforms head to head to see how they stack up against each other. Go play on some other gear, obsess about it for a few weeks and use the S8 during that time too, you'll figure it out. Not since my Kontrol S2 have I enjoyed DJing that much - back then traktor was simpler and 'my kinda thing'. I've just got then DJM900NXS2 - I'm having a load of fun again. Traktor and the S8 are powerful and great but if you're having doubts then that means you're not having fun and they're not your thing. Plus, this set up is far from industry standard so many tricks you'll learn on it are not transferable. The S8 makes a great mixer but you have to have the laptop open for effects and they're not as good as some hardware effects and you need to sync the clock manually to the external decks Bpm (no sync button here guys). I used two XDJ1000's as live input decks and slowly started using the traktor decks less and less. If you're not going to get involved with remix decks and stems them you're missing the point with the S8. Traktor is excellent but is overkill in many ways. As somebody that had the S8 from day one and has just placed it on eBay. Ok, I see this is a little old as a thread now but my thoughts.
REKORDBOX DJ VS TRAKTOR MAC
I run traktor in combination with the s8 and a xdj-1000 in advanced hid mode and use the s8 more freq then the xdj, i bought the xdj to familiarize my self with te pioneer way.its nice but the s8 is way more flexible.Īlso going to party's(techno) looking in the dj booth to see what kind of equipment they use, 9 out of 10 use traktor in combination with ableton push or the new aria line from roland or both.havent seen the S8 in use yet but coming Friday i am going to awakenings with Carl Cox and he uses the S8 in combination with nexus, so it comes down to your own preferences and eventually the question if your gonna dj in clubs or on party's, where there maybe is no room for your own setup. For now the transition between a rekord box collection and a Traktro collection is, if your not mac based, not yet possible but i believe rekord buddy is going windows as well so you also could do both. Just as you say the combination of easy aces on the s8 to most of the functions in traktor for me are the thing i like most. If you rely on sync and play mostly edm then Traktor and the s8 are a combination that is hard to defeat. Why is pioneer more advanced ? because other dj's use it more ? Here is the info on the Rekordbox 4.0 if you haven't seen it. What are your thoughts? For EDM, is it best to stick with the Traktor S8 since beatgriding and Sync should eliminate the need for jog wheels or should I go with a Pioneer DDJ-RX and Rekordbox 4.0 to gain the standardized layout that most DJ's use. Of course their are are other features however I am wondering if I should return the Traktor S8 and go with a Pioneer controller like the DDJ-RX with the new Rekordbox DJ 4.0 software. What I liked about the Traktor S8 was the STEMS feature to split up the Vocals on EDM tracks (Although after reading it looks to be just marketing thing and I am not sure if STEMS will take off with big artists releasing their tracks in STEMS format) and also the High res display so I can keep my eyes more on the controller then the computer running Traktor Pro. Shortly after my purchase I am pondering if I made a mistake with going with Traktor and not more standardized controller from Pioneer to make the transfer to more advanced equipment easier. I wanted to take the next step and get a controller so I went ahead and bought a Traktor S8. For the past couple of weeks I've been messing around with the Traktor Pro software and I really like it! The sync seems on point and the sample/remix decks are real nice and easy to use.
I mainly listen to EDM and plan to mix EDM just for fun, however I want to be able to learn the fundamentals of DJing so I can use other equipment in the future without having to relearn a completely new system. I am just starting out in the DJ scene and have a starter question to get me on my path.
